In the Beginning
I started the business in November 2017 after purchasing my first house. I needed to cut down and remove the stumps of a lot of trees on the property so I bought a stump grinder with the intent of making a little money on the side with it after completing my own projects.
The First Year
After a few months of using the stump grinder and getting the hang of things, I decided I needed a good way to efficiently clean up the site after grinding and haul away the debris. So in the summer of 2018 I purchased a new Bobcat MT85 and a used F550 with a dump bed. These purchases transformed my business into more of a landscaping business than stump grinding business. The Bobcat gave me the ability to move dirt for grading purposes, easily pick up heavy logs of trees that I cut down, and many other things. The dump truck gave me the ability to deliver aggregates, dirt, and haul away any kind of debris that the customer needed removed.
Since Then
I have purchased several attachments to make it easier to do certain things with the Bobcat. I now have a grading rake that is perfect for prepping a yard for seed or sod but also works great to regrade a gravel driveway. I have a pallet grapple so that I can easily move pallets around as well as grab a pile of brush or even pull small trees and bushes out of the ground. I also got a backhoe attachment so that I can dig trenches for french drains or downspout extensions. In 2020 I decided to add lawn mowing to my list of services, so I purchased a new 48″ Scag Vride and enclosed trailer to transport/store it. I also purchased a few tools including a laser level so that I can level areas for small buildings, above ground pools, or whatever the customer needs.
